Week 16 Part B: Building Out Your Strategy

          In this week's blog, I will be talking about my rough draft content for next month's postings on all my social media.  When it comes to strategizing, I first think of what are my goals for next month? then how am I going to make that happen and why is it important to make the plan work? And lastly, who am I making my postings for. As for next month's goal, Christmas had just finished which means that parents are not really looking forward to going shopping since they just did a whole lot of shopping for their loved ones. As for the young ones, some parents don't have the time to go shopping or they don't know what their kids want for Christmas so they'll just end up giving them the good old "Christmas cha-ching!" My business can benefit from that since no parent would get this kind of shoe that I market to their kids unless their kids ask for it. This takes care of who my target audience is which are the young adults with their Christmas mone...

Week 4 Part A: Defining Target Markets


For this blog, I have chosen set one which includes Armstrong Garden Centers and Rancho Vista Nursery websites to compare and identify each company's target market, and basic observations about the demographics and psychographics. 

Right off the bat, Armstrong Garden Centers has more interactive elements in its website than Rancho Vista Nursery. Just from looking at Armstrong Garden Centers homepage, you could tell that they have put in a lot of time and effort in making their website while Rancho Vista Nursery website is simple and looks like a small business. Both companies target consumers that are interested in growing plants but have different demographics. Rancho Vista Nursery is more locally-based so they target people that live nearby while Armstrong Garden Centers targets people nationwide since they are a larger chain and can reach out more anywhere in California. 

The obvious difference between the two is that Rancho Vista Nursery does not offer online shopping while Armstrong Garden Centers offer online shopping. Rancho Vista nurseries shop is currently closed due to covid while the other can continue to operate since they are a much larger chain and can afford to still make profits since they are able to sell online.

 I am unsure if there would be any crossover between the two types of customers within both companies since Vista Nursery does not have any pricing on their products or a catalog on what kind of succulents they sell other than having the customer go to their physical store. I would say that Armstrong Garden Centers this more flexible in terms of its marketing strategy.
 
Overall, Rancho Vista Nursery targets its audience locally, it is simple and easy to navigate for people that live nearby. Their site seems to me that it is only for people that already know about them and is just wanting more information about their business. Armstrong Garden Centers is more professionally made and it looks like they have been doing this business for a long time hence their slogan “130+ years of Serving California” quote. They offer products that can be sold both in-store and online which the other company lacks. Both company’s color use, font, and logo are very well made. An improvement on Ranchos website is its choice of image on its homepage. The image used is blurry and has a broken link that says plant on the top right of the image which leads to their FAQ page. Both company's choice of color for their website matches what they sell with good contrast. The logos for each company does not have a memorable effect on me and just seemed too simple and a little outdated. Although these two companies have their little differences they both deliver their message well and professionally.
